Diners Club

The Diners Club payment system

The brand Diners Club issues plastic cards that can be used along with the bank cards, however, they have a number of features relating to the service and benefits for their owners. The payment system with the same name exists for more than 70 years. How did it come about? One day in 1949, Frank McNamara couldn’t pay for his lunch. This wasn’t because he didn’t have the money, but due to an oversight: when leaving home, he didn’t carry his wallet.

The idea behind the Diners Club was that lovers of delicious food would not be limited to the amount of cash in their pocket when ordering. After a while the club turned into a full-fledged payment system that held its steady position until the end of the 20th century. Its position was shaken by rapidly developing competitors, but it continued to exist and issued cards using its brand name.

The card attracts customers by offering a range of extra features. For example, cardholders can use luxury lounges at more than 700 airports around the world for free. You shouldn’t look for a separate DC inscription on ATMs. However, you can safely withdraw money at those with the MasterCard designation. It’s easy to explain, there is a partnership agreement between the systems.

Advantages and disadvantages

The card has the following advantages:

  • fast transactions;
  • Safe as long as the card data have not been captured by a third party;
  • The system is easy to use thanks to the partnership with MasterCard.

As for the inconveniences that may arise when using the card, the following can be highlighted:

  • The lengthy registration procedure on the official website that precedes obtaining the card. You will have to provide a lot of information about yourself (much more than when applying for a regular bank card);
  • there is a fee for obtaining a card. It is not a question of large sums, but for those who do not plan to actively use the card, it does not make sense to apply for it;
  • you will not be able to make a deposit to a US casino. Such payments are marked with a special code, and the bank rejects them.
Security and efficiency of Diners Club

Deposit in casinos

Recharging is no different to depositing with an ordinary bank card:

  1. Choose the MasterCard option (a separate Diners Club badge is rare).
  2. Enter the amount to be paid.
  3. Enter the card details.
  4. Confirm the payment.

If the funds are not credited to your account, contact your bank first. Most likely, it has rejected the payment. This is because some banks prohibit their customers from funding their casino account with this card.
